As winter leaves us for another year and the weather warms up, newfound motivation seems to take over a car enthusiast to get their car ready for another season. With that in mind, what a perfect way to kick it off with the annual World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) happening this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park! Simpson, one of our photographers, was at the media launch on Monday to get a close up of the cars, crew and what else may be on offer this weekend.
One car I am dying to see is the Mazda 787B. After listening to the sound of that rotary motor on YouTube, I sure hope they take this thing for a WOT session around the track!
As always at time attack events, there was an abundance of Evos, whether they were on or off the track.
Top Secret always had a legendary status amongst the Japanese tuning scene due to their extremely high powered Supras and GTRs. For WTAC this year they brought their 1000hp R35 GTR driven by the man Tarzan Yamada himself who won in 2011 with the Cyber Evo.
The battle for the Motul R35 Class is definitely one to look out for, especially the HKS R35 sporting 1200+hp and driven by Nob Taniguchi.
I’ll never tire of Under Suzuki’s full carbon fibre S15. Whether it be the crazy aero package, menacing colour scheme or the fact he is his own mechanic/driver. The Scorch Racing S15 is the result of Suzuki’s years of hard work and attention to detail without the backing of major companies.
As the sun sets and the circuit cars pack up for the day, the Forumla Drift cars come out to play. As always, Mad Mike’s quad-rotor RX7 was the main fan attraction, especially now that he’s sporting his new Rocket Bunny kit!
Some of the boys will be down there on Saturday for the Show’n’Shine sporting some new setups so make sure to go and check it out!
